Spasticity
Spasticity
This is a muscle disorder that is characterized by uncontrolled tight muscles. This can be caused by a variety of disorders that affect the central nervous system including brain injuries, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries.
Having these chronic taut muscles can cause a significant amount of pain.
If therapy and medications do not help with the pain from the spasticity and/or cause too many side effects, you may be a candidate for more advanced treatment options (see implantable drug delivery systems with baclofen-link) that may provide superior relief from your spasticity without the need for oral medications.
